Fun at the Kew Horticultural Society Show

Update 30/08/2017

We were incredibly lucky to have glorious weather for the Kew Horticultural Flower & Produce Show on Kew Green last Saturday, now in its 73rd year.

Congratulations to all those hard working volunteers from the Kew Horticultural Society.

Pippa Hayward from the Good Wine Shop in Kew devised an introductory wine course especially Kew Society members. She's a qualified Wine Educator teaching regularly in London. She loves making sense of her pet subject in an informal and easy going way.

Pippa says "Whether you're baffled by Burgundy, mad about Malbec, a Sauvignon fan or a Chardonnay phobe, this course will help you find out why you enjoy some wines and not others - amongst other things!"

    The course covered:

    • Learning how to taste like a professional
    • The gardening and cooking bits - what makes a wine taste as it does
    • Comparing New and Old world examples of the same grape
    • Deciphering wine labels

13 of our members enjoyed the course which ran for 4 Monday evenings from 8pm at the Good Wine Shop in Kew from November 10th to December 1st with each session lasting 90 minutes, starting at 8pm.

We had a lot of very positive feedback for the course and as a result we shall be planning another very soon.

Tickets for the whole course (four evenings) cost £80 per person.
