The Kew Society members & guests were treated to a fascinating tour of the Poppy Factory.
For over 90 years, The Poppy Factory in Richmond, Surrey, has provided employment for ex-Service men and women making remembrance poppies, crosses and wreaths for The Royal Family and The Royal British Legions's Poppy Appeal. We were delighted to have this chance to tour the factory and view the important work that goes on.
We enjoyed a wonderful presentation and introductory film about the Poppy Factory and its history with Brian our tour guide, followed by a visit to the shop floor to see how poppies and wreaths are made.
The members donated £150 in total from their ticket price to the Royal British Legion Poppy Factory.
Mary Done also produced a very interesting document which details more about the land and the surrounding area. Click here to read more.
