Appeal refused for new telephone box outside Lloyds Pharmacy

We are glad to see that the appeal against the refusal of permission for a telephone box here has been dismissed on grounds of the harm to the character and appearance of the street scene and the setting of the adjacent Building of Townscape Merit (BTM).

Kew Society objects to new telephone box

We have objected to an application for a new telephone box on the pavement outside Lloyd’s Pharmacy in Kew Village at 19-21 Station Parade. A similar application outside Tescos on the other side of Station Parade (ref 17/1349/TEL) has just been refused by Richmond Council. The new telephone box on the main pedestrian route from Kew Gardens station to the Royal Botanic Gardens would add unnecessary clutter and do nothing to enhance the character and appearance of this conservation area. Nor is it clear to us that there is demand for telephone boxes in the age of the ubiquitous mobile phone,
