Volunteers needed for Turner’s House, Twickenham

After years of fundraising, the artist J M W Turner’s House in Twickenham will be opened to the public in June/July this year. The Trust are looking for volunteers to help with stewarding and guiding.

Turner’s House, Sandycombe Lodge, was built by 1813 to the designs of England’s great landscape painter, J.M.W. Turner, working here as his own architect to create a quiet retreat for himself, away from the pressures of the London art world. Opening to the public this summer after a £2.4million restoration, Turner’s House is committed to extending access to the house and engaging people with both the heritage of the site and the wider story of Turner and his relationship to the local area, which influenced many of his paintings. The Trust are currently seeking enthusiastic and engaging volunteers who would like to be part of the team as stewards or tour guides. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the opening of a local heritage site and share your love of art.

For more information please contact Michelle Graabek, Activities and Interpretation Officer, mgraabektht@gmail.com.
