Local Interests & Activities

A comprehensive list of events and information about local organisations and businesses can be found on the KewTW9 web site.

However, we sometimes receive requests to promote events of interest from other organisations. So please find a few here that you may like to follow up.

Consultation on Public Space Protection Orders

A public consultation is now live on new proposals for walking dogs and dealing with anti-social behaviour with regards to parks, highways, cemeteries and other public land in the borough.

Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPO) were created in 2014 and will replace some existing legislation from October 2017, including Dog Control Orders and Designated Public Place Orders. PSPOs also allow local authorities to introduce measures aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour to ensure use and enjoyment of public space by all.

The Council’s proposals effectively review and update the borough’s existing Dog Control Orders, park byelaws and other powers. The suggested changes are based on issues that are raised as enquiries or complaints, Council policies and other guidance introduced since the byelaws were adopted. The measures are proposed for various different locations as appropriate.

Please share this with your members and other stakeholders. The consultation will be important in shaping what is subsequently recommended for implementation and we would like to encourage as many responses as possible. Individual responses add more depth to the consultation, whereas a response for a group as a whole counts as one response. Comments about alternatives or how a proposal will affect a public space are welcome.

The consultation document is attached and all responses should be entered via the online survey.

Pensford Field Work Party Invitation – 1st April 2017

If you have a few hours to spare on Saturday April 1st, come and join us at 10.00 at the field. There will be nothing too strenuous this time – some trimming and weeding plus litter collecting.

The pond repair has been successful and the frogs are now working on repopulating it. The main job for the work party will be planting the new marginal flowerbeds, installing some deep water lilies and oxygenating plants.

We will also have a special treasure hunt for the children who come along. Last month, when challenged to find 100 tennis balls, they managed to track down nearly 250!!

If you have a good suggestion for what to do with 250 tennis balls please let us know. There will be a small prize for the best suggestion, and of course we will do whatever the prize winning idea is.

Hot drinks, biscuits and cakes will be served and, if the weather permits, baked potatoes for a warm lunch at the end of our session.

Please  contact John O’Brien if you would like to join us  john_obrien@blueyonder.co.uk

Saturday 10th June 2017 Pensford Field Summer Party Picnic

Believe it or believe it not, Pensford Field Environmental Trust was set up twenty five years ago, so this year we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary at the Summer Party Picnic. There will be all sorts of activities including the return visit of the Kelvin Christiane Quartet ‘An afternoon of Jazz Standards’ who played last year. But the most important thing is that lots of people should come along and enjoy themselves. So mark the date in your diary and plan to come along with family and friends.
